Why Standardization and Regulations?

From an industry perspective standards and regulations provide a platform for consistent language in regard to definitions, test methods, laboratory accreditation and for product design, manufacturing and testing.

From a governmental perspective, regulation helps ensure public safety, provides consumer protection, regulates energy consumption and monitors environmental issues.

Standards are voluntary and Regulations are mandatory.

Energy Star

What is ENERGY STAR?

Energy Star is the national symbol for energy efficiency. It is a voluntary energy efficiency labeling program that establishes criteria manufacturers can use to promote qualifying products, guiding consumers in making informed decisions about products that save energy, relative to standard technology.

The Energy Star logo serves as a marketing platform for retailers, manufacturers, and utilities to promote energy efficient products. The designation is awarded to products that meet strict energy-efficiency guidelines set by U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
