Osram Supplies Core LED Components for Olympic Center Display Screen in Beijing

The National Olympic Sports Center in Beijing, China, as one of the greatest showcases of the development in China’s sports venues, has hosted some of the country’s major sporting events such as the 11th Asian Games and the 7th National Games. In order to meet the demand for high-quality outdoor screens during the live broadcast of major sporting events, the center has increased the size of its display screen from 100 square meters to 200 square meters.

The project was undertaken by Nanjing Lopu Co., Ltd., a pioneer and leader in developing and producing large LED screens with more than 20 years of experience in the field. The project, launched in September 2017, was completed in just 12 days, including on-site installation and fine-tuning. Osram Opto Semiconductors provided the key components of this expanded 200-square-meter screen, 132 square meters (full-color display) of which use Osram LEDs, namely, Displix Black.

Osram Opto Semiconductors’ Displix Black comes in a black package with a black reflector. The surface of the reflector is optimized for rendering a variety of colors, ensuring sharp contrast and crisp and clear images even under direct sunlight. The large outdoor screen needs to provide not only a broad display but also an excellent visual experience for viewing from a variety of angles; it also ensures the quality of brightness values and color rendering effects under varying light sources and is able to withstand extreme weather, different levels of humidity, fluctuating temperatures and UV radiation.
