Osram adds to the Synios P 2720 series
Presentation of new chip versions at ISAL 2015
The Synios P 2720 series offers suitable LEDs for virtually any application.
At ISAL 2015 (International Symposium on Automotive Lighting), Osram Opto Semiconductors will be presenting its Synios P 2720 LED series with all previously available versions for the first time. Six new InGaAlP versions with edge lengths of 750 µm to 1 mm per chip have been added to the product portfolio. They offer more light and better performance for use in tail lights and turn indicators. Customers looking for the right LED for their particular application now have a choice of 15 Synios versions.

For the first time, Osram Opto Semiconductors will be showcasing its entire portfolio of Synios P 2720 LEDs at ISAL 2015, which takes place in Darmstadt from September 28 to 30, including six new versions with edge lengths of 750 µm to 1 mm. These additions to the product series offer larger chip sizes in yellow, red and super red. Depending on the wavelength, the 1 mm² chips have typical brightness levels between 85 and 120 lumen (lm), whereas the chips with a 750 µm edge length provide between 40 and 55 lm. The typical forward voltage Vf is 2.25 or 2.35 V depending on the LED type. With such technical data the new types are extremely efficient solutions that supplement the 500 µm chip versions and therefore offer full scalability and flexibility for installation in tail lights and turn indicators.
All P 2720 versions have package dimensions of 2.7 mm x 2.0 mm x 0.6 mm and the same solder pad design. This gives manufacturers enormous freedom for their processing as different vehicles can be equipped with lights of different brightnesses and colors without the need to change the processes. Prescribed standards such as ECE and SAE can be met with a single package so compliance is much simpler. Thanks to their SMT design, the Synios LEDs can be used in standard processes. Other benefits are their high reliability and temperature cycling stability.
15 different Synios P 2720 LEDs in three chip sizes with edge lengths of 500 µm to 1 mm, five colors (white, conversion yellow, yellow, red and super red) and different brightness levels give customers a high degree of flexibility and freedom of design. Depending on the requirements of the particular application, either a few bright Synios versions can be used or a larger number of smaller types without having to change the footprint.
