OSRAM XENARC NIGHT BREAKER UNLIMITED: "Best buy" award from Auto Express

11.12.2015 | Awards

The British motoring magazine AUTO EXPRESS has declared the OSRAM XENARC NIGHT BREAKER UNLIMITED xenon lamp the winner of its first ever xenon headlight bulb test. This upgrade lamp received the coveted “Best Buy” label and was the only one tested lamp to receive five stars. "A superb bulb and worth the extra," wrote the experts in the November 2015 issue. The OSRAM ORIGINAL XENARC also recived a notable mention, coming in fourth place.

Auto Express test process:

Auto Express tested a total of eight lamps, all of type D1S. This type is installed primarily in relatively recent models. The test took place in the light tunnel at OSRAM’s xenon lamp centre in Berlin.

Auto Express on the test process: "We used the same formula as we do for rating halogen bulbs, combining output measured at 50 and 75 meters in front of the car on dipped lights to get a beam rating. These D1S bulbs have their own built-in igniter, and were burned in for four minutes to give a stable output. An average of two bulbs formed the rating."

XENARC NIGHT BREAKER UNLIMITED: "Superb bulb and worth the extra"

XENARC NIGHT BREAKER UNLIMITED scored highly for its outstanding advantages. "The beam on the Night Breaker was not just visibly brighter, with the dark spot in the centre of the road on the horizon almost eliminated, but was even and symmetrical. [...] We could see the color change, which gave the beam a blue hue. A superb bulb and worth the extra."-That´s the verdict of the Auto Express test.

The Auto Express "Best Buy" award is already the second prize in 2015 for the XENARC NIGHT BREAKER UNLIMITED. The OSRAM lamp finished also first in the xenon lamp test conducted by the German car Magazine AUTO BILD, issue 4/2015. In this case, the D2S type was tested.
